House Repeals Obamacare, Rep compares GOP to Nazis

Breaking news: The House has just voted to repeal Obamacare! In an effort to ‘make good’ on a campaign promise, the House GOP led the vote tonight to repeal the job-killing Obamacare. One thing that perhaps only political wonks (aka nerds) like myself would notice– two very big differences from when the House first passed Obamacare:

1- The bill to repeal Obamacare was up on the internet with more than the (new) minimum 72 hours advanced notice

2- House Republicans allowed debate from BOTH sides of the aisle before calling the vote

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has recently called for a new era of ‘civility’ in Congress, she even called upon members to shun party lines and sit together for the upcoming State of the Union address, but it is important to note that it was her policies that stifled minority debate and rammed this bill through Congress without affording members a chance to read the bill!  While Nancy Pelosi espouses her new-found love of unity, members of her own party are doing the exact opposite, calling their Republican colleagues ‘Nazis.’ Tonight, on the House floor, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) attacked Republicans on health care and compared rhetoric on the issue to the Holocaust and to the infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels. “They say it’s a government takeover of health care, a big lie just like Goebbels,” Cohen said. “You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually, people believe it.  Like blood libel. The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it–believed it and you have the Holocaust.”
